Creative Story - Year 7 Assignment

“The Rise of Triangle Ron”

The sun’s rays shone through the stained window glass. His muscles stretched like elasticated rubber as the sound of birds chirping woke him from a deep sleep. The smell of coffee filtered through every room of the mansion it seemed and it drew him to the kitchen. The smell of toasted bread wafted through his senses. Chewing on his strawberry jam covered piece of toast and slurping his heaven in a cup cappuccino, Ron Michaels was ready to face the day. As he arrived in front of his office lobby, he pushed through the big door with a huge writing that says “Michaels’ Corporation”. His workers greeted him as he walked through the gigantic and modern building. Riding his building’s super fast lift that traveled to his 28th floor where he worked and masterminded the company. He sat on his beloved chair and ready to start his day in his company.

The first sound of a knocking door alerted him. As the door opened, the glamour of a luxurious woman suit shone through the door and he knew that it was Jennifer, his business partner. As a businessman, Ron was famous for his kindness in giving loan and advice for other businessmen and women. However, his attitude of smug-ness gave him a dark side flavor to his business attitude. As Jennifer explains what she needs he interrupted her and lent her some money. As soon as Jennifer touched the door, Ron stood up and gave a piece of paper to her with his phone number, time, date, and an exclusive restaurant address on it. With a cheerful smile, she took the paper and left.

The sound of the wonderful string quartet filled the restaurant hall. The smell of expensive western food grabbed the attention of all of the people in the restaurant hall. While Jennifer walked through the corridor of the restaurant hall Ron greeted her as the smell of her wonderful perfume engaged through the air. She sat down facing Ron and ready to have a dinner with him. Filling up their stomachs with some steak and pancakes brought up the sense of romance to the dinner. As they both nearly finished their food, Ron stood up and kneeled down in front of Jennifer. Ron knew she had accepted as he wrapped his arms around Jennifer and he could tell she felt secure in his warm embrace.

As the months passed by, time seemed to disappear. The wonderful couple had wonderful time together. Passing through the parts of their love journey, gave them more colors and gradients to their life. As part of the company-developing program, Ron decided to hire a new secretary called Amanda. Ron is a great person in business world but his attitude is very arguable. Besides his smug-ness attitude, his heart is easily to be attracted by a woman just like a North and South Pole magnets. Whatever the poles are, he always become the opposite pole and attracted to it. Just days after working with his new secretary, his mind is filled up with feelings of love with her. As he knew that every girl in this world would accept his love proposal, with a brave heart, he told Amanda that he fell in love to her and as Ron knew she had accepted, he wrapped his arms around Amanda and he could tell she felt protected in his heartfelt embrace.

Ron always thought that breaking someone’s heart was the worst thing that he could do to a woman. After some considerations with confusedness and anxiousness, he decided to have a relationship with 2 women, which is also known as the love triangle. To avoid suspiciousness that might be felt by the 2 women, he decided to divide his time for both of them. Half of the times for Jennifer while the other half for Amanda. As he mostly spent his time to keep both of his women, he often left his company and not attended investor meetings. As time seems to fly, slowly the Michaels’ Corporation started to have problems with profit and financial stability and created a big splash mark on their performance book. Slowly but steadily, the company started to went down and had a great lost. Ron kept on focusing to his girlfriends and somehow left his company for a long time. Everyday, he gave his attention more to his relationships with his girlfriends rather than the company. The company rocket-ly fell down into an enormous lost and bankrupted. Ron decided to fire all of his employees to cover that gigantic lost and closed the company.

Day by day, he enjoyed his life being a man that had a relationship with two women. As he walked into the cinema hall holding Amanda’s hands tightly, he realized that Jennifer was there too walking with her friend. Trying to calm himself down and not causing any misunderstanding, he decided to cancel the movie and went out from the cinema hall. But suddenly, when Ron stepped on the edge of the door, Jennifer saw him with Amanda and shouts. Jennifer and Amanda realized that Ron had cheated on both of them and at that right second, both of them broke up with Ron and left him alone. With a torn heart and a pool of tears, Ron left the cinema. Almost everyday after the incident, he kept on being silent and reflects back on what just happened.

Opening a new page of his life, he decided to move on and considered the past as a lessoned to be learned. He started to play on some stock and market and got some profit from it. He then used his profit to start a new business and rose up from his pool of sorrow. From months to years, he tried to create new chapter of his life and changed the way people think about Ron Michael. After all of his shame and hard work, he was now considered as one of the richest and most successful businessman in the world and had been traveling throughout the world to share his inspirational story.

Descriptive Reflection Year 7 - School Assignment

A Family Celebration I’ll Never Forget

Every religion in this world has their own special celebration. For Muslims they have “Ramadhan”, fro Hindu’s they have “Nyepi”, for Buddhist’s they have “Waisak”, while for Christians and Catholics, they have the most well known celebration in the world, which is “Christmas”. As my whole families are full of Christians and Catholics we all have the same special celebration of the year, which is Christmas. For some people, Christmas might just be another religious holiday where all offices and schools are on vacation but for my family, Christmas is not only about holidays and vacation but it’s all about Jesus and family.

Walking into the hall, praising and singing to God, hearing some words of God by a Pastor, and reflecting back from the beginning of the year until that day. That’s what my family and I always do in Church during the Christmas holiday season. As Christmas is part of my family’s culture and tradition, currently the knowledge that Christmas is not only about vacation, going to church, holidays, or meeting extended family but it’s also about the birth of Jesus. Every year, my family and I always commemorate the day when Jesus was born. Besides going to church, my family also often goes to religious sites such as Mary’s Cave “Goa Maria” which is located in Central Java specifically in an area called “Ambarawa”. Every time I go there, the smell of the ancient cave, candles, and flowers remind me of pasts Christmas. Just like other people who had gone there, my family and I give flowers and light candles for Mary’s statue, which is located in front of the cave. In my opinion, the purpose of giving flowers and lighting candles for the Mary’s statue is to thank her for the blessings that God has gave us during the year and ask for blessings for the upcoming year. For me, that place will always make me feel nostalgic as I can remember my past Christmas celebrations and rituals.

Besides going to churches and participating in religious events, my extended family, and I always meet at my grandmother’s house to gather up and celebrate Christmas together. Every time I step in to my grandmother’s house, the smell of fried mashed potato and hot chicken soup always strikes my mind and force me to open my mouth and eat them. That’s why almost every Christmas season my extended family always gains a lot of weight due to my grandma’s food. Another thing that I like the most in my grandma’s house is the smell of ancient decorations and the rusty fireplace which reminds me of my childhood where I used to play with eh decorations and hide beside the fireplace. After having a good meal of my unique grandma’s food, my whole family and I, never forget to play ancient games. The adults in my family usually play cards while my cousins and I usually play a traditional board game called “Karambol”. As most of the game, are ancient and old, sometimes the game board or machine might not work and make weird sounds. That’s why, most of the time when my family played these ancient games, we laugh heartily and continuously.

In my family, there are no celebrations without decorations. Every year, my extended family and I never miss a Christmas season to decorate our houses. The flashing colorful small light bulbs light up my house while the green and thick mistletoe gives my front door a whole new appearance. Besides these Things, my family also never forgets to put up the bright red and white Christmas stockings and last but not least, the majestic green Christmas tree. Almost every member of my family decorates their house with Christmas decoration including my grandparents. Even though they are a bit old and slow at decorating the different parts of each of their houses, they have very good taste especially at interior design. To hasten their work, my family always helps them to fill their houses with Christmas decorations. That’s the fun part of decorating houses, while one of the most annoying processes is taking down all of the decorations after the 12 days of Christmas. Taking the decorations down is always an annoying period of time as we need to pack all of the things into one group and tidy them up in order. All my family members have to take time doing that including my cousins and I as we always wanted to spend the rest of the time playing games. Even though it’s annoying, it’s our responsibility to clean up the house after the celebration. So, as a “good” person, I help my family to clean up the decorations.

In conclusion, Christmas is a family celebration that I’ll never forget because I need to celebrate it every year. For me, besides having fun with the rest of the family, the main point of Christmas is to celebrate the day when Jesus was born and to reflect back on the part years. Not only in me, but for the rest of my family too. Christmas is something that my family looks forward to all year long, which needs to be celebrated and commemorated. I believe that everybody has their own unforgettable family celebration and it would be such a great thing to share it with other people.

Year 7 Debate Reflection

On the past few weeks, my classmate and I were learning about the topic “Debate” on our English class. We were studying about the 3 basic components of debates, which are Logos, Ethos, and Pathos. We also studied about the art of persuasive text & speech and how to create a well argument for our debate. After we learned some basics of debating, we moved on to try out a debate with some fun topics. There were two topics that were chosen for these debates. They were “Dogs vs Cats” and “Apple vs Samsung”. I myself chose the topic Apple vs Samsung with the other 7 guys and Radi and I were the ones who rebut this topic. After the debate, evaluations and comments were given to each of the participants. We’ve decided to debate one more time but this time with more serious topic. This time the topics that were chosen were “One world, One currency” and “Drug traffickers = Death penalty”. This time, the other 7 people and I chose the topic “One world, One currency” and Albern and I were the ones who rebut this topic.

On the final debate, which is the serious topic debate, I think that my group and I were pretty organized in planning and dividing jobs for each person in the group. We were planning the topic and arguments from the beginning of the time that were given for us to work on our debate. On every meeting of the English lesson, we were trying to ask our teacher (Ibu Megan) some advice for our progress in creating the arguments. I think if I would rate my group out of 10 in this area, I would rate it around 8.5/10 as there was a huge turn around where several of our group members change their arguments in the middle of creating one.

As I was the one who will rebut the affirmative side of the topic “One world = One currency”, I didn’t really create an argument as I need to know what the other team was talking about and rebut them. But, I had created a prediction of what things that they will say to support their statement. During the debate, I need to quickly create a argument, find evidences, and organized them and I think, I did pretty okay in this aspect. I think that my arguments are pretty good but the structure in my grammar is a bit wrong and sometimes weird.

For the evidence, I think that my group and I have pretty good and enough supporting evidence as we do a lot of research through the Internet and by interviewing. We also research them through books and articles from magazines. In researching for the backup evidence and the supporting evidence, we always look for advices from our teacher (Ibu Megan) on how to find the best evidence in opposing the one currency idea. I think If my group out of 10 in this are, I would rate it around 8/10 as there were some back up evidence that were not really back upping the argument.

I think that my group used the time given to research, plan, and organize the argument pretty well even though sometimes we were struggling at some parts in planning and finding the evidence but I think that my group and I did pretty well in this aspect. I think that my group also uses the Aristotle’s persuasive techniques, which are Ethos, Pathos, and Logos pretty well. Just like our 3rd speaker. He uses one of the techniques to touch the audiences’ hearts and attract them to agree with his argument. For me, I think that I might use this techniques as during the debate, I directly created an argument and search for the evidence to rebut the statement from the other group. So, I might use those techniques but I might realize some of them and I also might not realize some of them.

Overall my group did a pretty good job in this debate but there are still some aspects that we need to improve to be a better debater. I think I did well in rebutting through the statements that were stated by the other group and I think that I use the right evidence at the right time. But, I also need to improve in organizing the argument and the structure of the sentences. I also need to fix some grammar on my rebuttal statement. In conclusion, even though I think that I did pretty well in this debate, there are still some aspects that I need to improve next time to be a better debater. I think that the group that argued the best from each debate is the opposing side from the “One world = One currency” topic and from the opposing side of the topic “Drug traffickers = Death penalty”.

For this debate, I think that I deserve the score of 18 out of 21 for the overall grade, as there are still some aspects that I need to fix and improve.

The Volupides Case - Police Report (for educational purpose only)

*On these past few days, my English class and I were discussing about debating. This is one of the tasks that were given by my English teacher (Ibu Megan).

We arrived at the Volupides household at 2 am. We found Queenie Volupides’ husband (Arthur Volupides) laying on the floor in front of the stairs with his right foot on the third step and his left foot on the second step.  He was still holding his glass on his hands. Witness (Queenie Volupides) said that they had had a tiff. She tore out of the house and went to the country club where there was a party going on.  The autopsy found a wound on the back of his head, which was the cause his death. Queenie confessed that she invited her friends over for another drink then found Arthur dead. She said to her friend “Something terrible happened. Arthur slipped and fell on the stairs. He was coming down for another drink-he still had the glass on his hand and I think he’s dead. We collected evidence from the house . We found some pieces of evidence that disprove Queenie’s confession.

Firstly, we noticed that Arthur was lying on his back. As a rule, people usually fall face-first if they fall or trip down the stairs. It is unusual to see Arthur lying on his back since Queenie claimed that he fell down the stairs to get another drink. Another thing is that we also noticed that Arthur’s right foot was on the third step and his left foot was on the second step. As a rule when people was walking up the stairs, one of their foot is usually one step higher than the other. This proves that he did not go down the stairs. It’s likely that Queenie was not telling the truth. It’s also likely that he was going up the stairs instead of going down the stairs.

Secondly, we noticed that everything on the stairs (including the carpet) is not misplaced and its very neat. As a rule, when people fell down, they usually grab on to things or try to steady/save themselves to prevent injury. Which would have to results to have things moved out of its place or it would move the carpet. On the scene, we noticed that everything on the stairs was very neat and it is unlikely to not wrinkle the carpet. Another thing was that we noticed that the Autopsy only shows that Arthur’s body was only injured on his head. As a rule when people fall down from the stairs, they would suffered more than 1 injury or more injuries to other parts of his body. This proves that Arthur was unlikely to fall down the stairs and it’s likely Queenie was not telling the truth.

Thirdly, we noticed that there was a frying pan cooking in 1am. As a rule, people don’t usually cook at 1am as it’s commonly a sleeping time. Another thing that we noticed was that the amount of smoke coming out of the frying pan. It was unlikely that a regular food will produced that much of smoke when it’s cooked. It can make that much smoke if there was a liquid in the bottom of the frying pan. Which will cause it to be very smokey. This proves that the frying pan contains liquid as it produced more smoke than it is supposed to be. This proves that it’s unlikely queenie was cooking because she’s hungry or that she was cooking for her friends since they were just going to her house for another drink.

In conclusion, we concluded that Queenie is proved that she had murdered her husband Arthur by using the frying pan. When Arthur went upstairs, Queenie took the frying pan and hit Arthur from the back. Arthur fell down and dead. It was believed that she hit Arthur because they had a tiff. She put the frying pan back on the stove before she dried up the blood and turn the stove on to pretend she was cooking and to remove the evidence of she hitting Arthur from the police. She framed her action by inviting friends over and pretending that she just knew that Arthur was dead.

My 2014 Christmas Holiday Moment

It was a cloudy and wet Monday morning on the 29th of December 2014. I was in the city of Merlion waiting for the theatre gate to be opened. Breakfasts were served during the waiting time. I only had some of them as my heart beat starts to rushed up. The theatre gate was finally opened and I was able to went in for some sound checking, rehearsal, and piano trials. I was waiting for the stage crew to prepare the stage while I read my music piece just to remind me the fingerings, notes, and music dynamics. When the stage and piano were ready, I went to the stage to have some piano trials. I realised that the piano felt really great. The tuts pressure was great and the sound was awesome.

I had a little intermission between the piano trial. I sat down on the audience seat and I saw the brand of the Piano that I use for the trial before and for the performance. I realised that the it's Steinway and Sons. No wonder the sound and tuts pressure were amazing. Not so long after that, the Orchestra came. They begin the strings trial to make sure they used the right tightness for their strings instrument. After all of that rehearsal, I was able to eat my lunch outside the theatre. After that, I went back to my hotel to have some rest before the concert.

The time had came. I washed my body and wear my suite and tie. I rushed to the Esplanade theatre as I didn't want to be late to attend the last briefing before the concert. Briefing was done and It's time for me to get ready for the concert. My hand started to sweat and my heart beat starts to rushed up again. At this point, I was just thinking of all of the practices I had did for this concert and hope for the best. I saw audiences started to enter the theatre. My heart beat was beating as fast as a cheetah could ran and my hand was sweating like I just washed my hand. After every music piece that I had played, it gave me at least chance to be a little bit more relaxed to prepare the next music piece. After 2 and a halve hour of intensity, the concert was done and all of the performers including me felt so relieved. All of the performers chat and laughed together just like an employee who just got an extra $1000000 cash.

So that's a part of my holiday moments. Happy New Year 2015!!!
